QURBAN
Qurban is celeberated for three days after the day of Hajj (9th zul Hajj). This means it is on the 10th, 11th and 12th of Dhul Hajj on the Islamic calender.
Qurban means sacrifice. It is not an obligation, but necessarily for all who are earning and have enough money to do it. The meat of the animal should be divided into three portions, of which one third is distributed among the poor, another part among relatives and friends, and the third is consumed in the family.
AQIQAH
When referring to the Arabic language, aqiqah has the meaning of cutting and perforating. In the general sense, aqiqah is an act of worship slaughtering animals in the form of goats as a form of gratitude for the birth of a child. The law of aqiqah is the sunnah of mu’akad. This means that this is an act of worship that is indeed organized to be performed.
